Mai thai - Brooklyn: Reviews & Ratings

There used to be a place in bay ridge called top thai that had good thai food. Since they shut, I have not found a good thai place. This is going to be my new go to spot for thai. The food is overall good. It is a reasonable price compared to other places that are not that good and more expensive. There is some wok hei unlike some other places. I ordered: Drunken noodles - good flavor but not that spicy so if you want spicy, request for spicy. Pad see ew (flat noodles) - good flavor with a good amount of wok hei. Pad thai - I think this one was okay. The small noodles were not as good. Pineapple fried rice - the fried rice was good. A good amount of soy sauce and wok hei. Papaya salad - fresh and tastes good. I called for pick up and there was not much wait.

Food was amazing!! I’m very picky about my Thai food but this place is a 10/10. Super friendly staff and quick service! I ordered a green curry with tofu and asked for extra spicy. They definitely made it super spicy and delicious to my tasting. Would highly recommend this place because I’m coming back and bringing my friends too.

Went to Mai Thai for pick-up with my man and the food was bomb! Everything was super delicious. The presentation could’ve been a little better, but the flavors made up for it. We loved it and will definitely be coming back!

Mai Thai - Brooklyn stands out as a vibrant treasure in the heart of Bay Ridge, offering an authentic taste of Thai cuisine that Brooklyn has long awaited. Located at 5017 6th Ave, this restaurant captures the essence of traditional Thai flavors, skillfully marrying them with elements like wok hei—the smoky, charred aroma that many Thai food lovers crave but seldom find outside of Thailand.

What truly sets Mai Thai apart is its consistent balance of flavorful dishes made with care and precision. The Drunken Noodles boast a rich, savory profile with just the right touch of wok hei, though those who prefer heat should not hesitate to request extra spice to elevate the experience. The Pad See Ew, with its broad flat noodles and perfect sear, delivers a delightful smoky taste that resonates deeply with authentic Thai street food. While the Pad Thai leans more on the classic side, it still holds its ground as a comforting staple.

The Pineapple Fried Rice is a highlight, marrying sweetness and savory soy balanced with that distinctive wok hei flavor, creating a dish that feels both nostalgic and fresh. The Papaya Salad stands out for its crisp freshness and well-balanced acidity, a refreshing companion to the richer noodle and rice dishes. For those venturing into unique textures, the basil fried rice and chicken wings provide interesting layers of flavor, though occasional quirks, like the bittersweet broccoli element, are gracefully offset by the restaurant’s well-crafted sauces.

Service here complements the food’s quality—efficient, friendly, and responsive to requests, making takeout a reliable and speedy option for locals on the go. What impresses most is the dedication to authenticity combined with a willingness to cater to individual spice preferences, which reflects a genuine respect for the diverse palates of their audience.

From the moments spent savoring the creamy green curry with extra heat to ending the meal with the beloved mango sticky rice, Mai Thai - Brooklyn leaves a lasting impression. It’s not only a meal but an invitation to explore real Thai cuisine—a rare gem that rivals long-gone favorites and sets a new standard in Brooklyn’s Thai food scene. For anyone seeking bold, smoky, and richly layered dishes, this spot is an essential destination.
